Tender description

Provide/undertake countryside services requirements to Durham County Council and its associated bodies including working with clients such as English Heritage to Wear Rivers Trust; AONB; Limestone Landscapes Improvement; Parish Councils; Durham County Schools; Environment Agency and Community Groups. Some Works involved in this Framework Agreement may be subject to grant conditions of which Bidders and the Council must comply with for example Heritage Lottery Funding (HLF). Any required works are intended to be separate into 2 areas, “Day Works” and Projects. It is to be noted by Bidders that the majority of works under this Framework Agreement will be “Day Works”. The Council believes that the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 (TUPE) applies to this contract. The Framework will cover the following Countryside Service requirements within mainly rural locations: — construction of public right of ways and cycle ways — river and coastal erosion, — gabion baskets, — drainage, — duck boards, — willow spilling, — drystone walling, — natural habitat creation, — fencing, — removal of vegetation, — invasive weed control, — herbicide application, — earthworks. As part of the Framework the successful Contractor shall have suitably experienced qualified labour and plant resources immediately available (within 24 hours) to provide the following dedicated teams (“Day Works”) when required with competent supervision, suitable mobile mess facilities and telephone. In addition to labouring skills, it is expected that upon request operatives who are familiar with dry stone walling, willow spilling and pesticide application.
