Tender description

Wexford County Council proposes to construct a new earthen embankment and extend the existing irrigation lagoon within the Wexford Racecourse as part of a Minor Flood Alleviation Scheme. The purpose of the scheme is to alleviate flooding to houses in the Carricklawn and Newlands estates which have experienced flooding on occasions in the last number of years. The embankment will serve to impound water during heavy rainfall events, some of which will be stored in the extended irrigation lagoon. The excess water will then be discharged in a controlled manner by a flow control device located in the outlet of the lagoon. The existing defective sewers in the racecourse will also be replaced as part of the works.
