Tender description

Team Leidos, on behalf of the UK Ministry of Defence (UK MOD) has a requirement to provide a United Kingdom Deployable Food (UKDF) supply solution and deliver a cost effective, low risk feeding capability to meet the requirements of the British Armed Forces and entitled personnel in accordance with agreed UK, EU and Defence Food Quality Standards. This prior information notice is not a means to submit a formal expression of interest in respect of any potential tender. Any resultant requirement will be subject to the EU Public Procurement Regulations and respective advertising action. The contractor will be required to manage the food supply chain to source and deliver a range of approximately 800 core products consisting of fresh, ambient, chilled and frozen food product lines to locations in the UK, including UK Military establishments, training areas and Naval bases. The Contractor may also be required to source and deliver in-flight frozen entrees to UK Royal Air Force bases. The number of delivery locations totals approximately 240 individual accounts, with a geographical split covering England (80 %), Scotland (12 %), Wales (5 %) and Northern Ireland (3 %) and an annual spend in the range of 20 000 000 GBP to 24 000 000 GBP. Team Leidos are currently developing the sourcing strategy for this requirement and are seeking the views of industry on how the requirement might be brought to market, before launching the tender bidding process during the summer/autumn of 2019. As part of the planned requirement, an electronic ordering solution may be required to enable the end users to place orders directly with the successful contractor. This would either be operated using a Leidos e-catalogue, or through use of the contractors existing e-catalogue solutions, via an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
