Coventry and Warkwickshire Partnership Trust, acting as lead Trust, are seeking expressions of interest from potential providers of Secure Patient Transport (also known as Mental Health Transport) for the purposes of early market engagement. Secure patient transport shall include the transportation of patients who are detained under the mental health act sectioned and voluntary patients at risk of absconding; causing harm to themselves, others and/or in the interests of safety. Journeys may include but not restricted to: — emergency transfer to and from A&E departments transfers between mental health units, — to and from physical health appointments where transport on routine PTS is not suitable, — admission and discharge from mental health units, — emergency transfer to and from A&E departments where conveyance in a 999 ambulance may not be appropriate due to safety reasons and risk, — collection of patients from police stations transferring patients to mental health units and/or Acute Trusts, — return to mental health units following patients absconding, — out of area transport requests from healthcare and other professionals.
