Tender description

In line with the draft Chippenham Central Area Masterplan (published in October 2013) and the adopted planning policy framework document – the Wiltshire Core Strategy (2015) - proposals have been designed to respond to key planning principles and combine public sector and private sector investment to create a new development for the Chippenham Station area, which falls within the ‘Chippenham Central Area of Opportunity’. Throughout 2017, following consultation and viability testing, a high level masterplan was developed that aims to deliver the necessary improvements around the station to support the growth of Chippenham and its role as a principal settlement within Wiltshire. The masterplan is broken down into phases of development - Phase 1 includes refurbishment of the railway station ticket hall, new ticket gates and accessibility improvements across the platforms, and is underway. The Sadlers Mead Car Park site forms Phase 2 of the wider masterplan and includes a multi-storey car park, which will provide much needed additional car parking for the Olympiad leisure centre, the town centre and Chippenham Station. The site is split into two buildings which will consist of a new office building to the northern side of the site and an enhanced car park to the southern side. The car park design allows for access for coaches and vehicles to the Olympiad to be retained and screening from the park to be enhanced. The proposal includes: • 260 car parking spaces (including 13 disabled parking spaces) for the car park • 41 car parking spaces (including 2 disabled parking spaces) for the proposed office building • cycle parking spaces for the car park and the proposed office building with showers and changing facilities provided for the office building • coach parking bays • motorcycle parking Keywords: construction, car park
