Tender description

The Services will assist Council Staff in providing communication services to individuals or groups who require a service from the Council; and who speak or read languages other than English, or who need to communicate in English in non-spoken ways. The scope of this service will cover converting a specific spoken language to another spoken language. This service will be delivered; 1) Physically, face to face, by an attending Linguist who will assist listeners and speakers to understand one another. The format for delivery may vary (i.e. hearings, meetings and interviews, etc.). The location for delivery may vary as agreed with the Council, and / or; 2) Over the telephone allowing listeners and speakers to understand one another. — the Service Provider will, therefore, make their Services available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, — the Service Provider will ensure that all calls are answered and connected within 120 seconds, — the Service Provider and its Linguists will ensure that all calls are conducted in secure, private and quiet location, using a telephone line that has adequate sound quality. The scope of this service will cover translating written materials from one language to another as text, transcribing audio files, tapes or other electronic media from one language to another as texts, transcribing written documents into alternative formats such as (but not limited to) Braille, Easy Read, Large Print, Audio, Video and Pictorial English.
