Brent Council is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced highway works contractor via an open OJEU procurement procedure to deliver the reconnection of the road network between North End Road and Bridge Road. Brent Council is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced highway works contractor via an open OJEU procurement procedure to deliver the reconnection of the road network between North End Road and Bridge Road The Wembley Area Action Plan identified a need to connect North End Road to Bridge Road to assist in managing the existing levels of traffic in the area as well as accommodating the new growth and improving the effectiveness of the road network. A detailed design of the ramp and transition slab was completed in 2010 which required additional land to enable it to be constructed. Funding has been secured and the Council is now wanting to progress with the delivery of the scheme to ensure the network is resilient and accessibility improved for our residents. Prior to construction a review of the existing detailed design is required to deliver the scheme without the need for additional land to be secured. Pedestrian access is required at all times to the adjacent Michaela Community School. London Borough of Brent has been named by the Mayor of London as the Borough of Culture in 2020, in addition Wembley Stadium are also playing host to the Euro 2020’s, it is essential that delivery of this connection is completed by January 2020 to showcase the area to its full potential.
