Southend Crematorium : Replacement of Waste Heat Boiler

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council will be looking to remove and replace shell and tube boiler and associated works for the Crematorium Boiler. The boiler forms part of the cremation process which treats gases, in particular the boiler is used as a heat exchanger to remove heat to allow for filtration. The shell and tube boiler is a boiler that processes products of combustion taken from the cremators during the cremation process. The gases are further treated to extract Mercury prior to being discharged into the atmosphere. The boiler will need to be manufactured to comply with the Councils requirement and will need to fit into the space the existing process boiler currently occupies. The process boiler will need to be built off site and delivered to site, installed and commissioned. The boiler will need to be designed and configured to be comparable with the process controllers; the company responsible for the controls will need to be engaged by the successful boiler contractor to assist with interfacing, training, commissioning and handover.
