Tender description

To provide 6 luxury family glamping leisure accommodation units. The site of the proposed glamping accommodation units and associated infrastructure is situated to the east of Cwmcarn Visitors Centre between existing basic glamping pod accommodation and the lake. Grid Reference: 323199:193462 (Glamping Accommodation Site). The supplier will be required to carry out all the relevant groundworks for the successful installation of the units onto site and to make all appropriate connections to sewer, water and electric supplies where required. All work to be certified to current standards. supplier to be able to meet a schedule of 15 weeks from placing of order to delivery and connection on site. The site of the proposed glamping accommodation units and associated infrastructure is situated to the east of Cwmcarn Visitors Centre between existing basic glamping pod accommodation and the lake Grid Reference: 323199:193462 (Glamping Accommodation Site). The site itself is currently used for tent pitches and touring caravans and has existing vehicle access off the main road through Cwmcarn Forest. The site is within a rural setting, enclosed on 3 sides by mature trees and generally level, though some pitches currently suffer from poor drainage. The project will enhance and compliment the facilities already on offer and those proposed at Cwmcarn Forest and facilitate wider use of this key tourist destination. The existing accommodation pods at Cwmcarn have proved to be a great success but only provide basic timber style accommodation for up to four (4) people and can be described as a “wooden tent”. These existing pods are basic in comparison to the style of glamping unit desired as part of this commission. The proposal is to install up to 10 “high end” luxury units within the allocated site over a phased period. The new units will provide furnished accommodation for varied users from couples up to a family of six (6) and will include a small kitchen, dining table, microwave, fridge, shower room and mains connected toilet. The first phase (as per this commission) will see the installation of 6 luxury glamping accommodation units at the following configurations: — 1 x 2+ berths – 2 berth layout with the option of extending to 4 people with addition of sofa bed, — 3 x 4 berths – larger unit than 2 berth with double bed and sofa bed in living space to accommodate 4;and — 2 x 6 berths – larger unit than 4 berths with double bed, sofa bed and bunks to allow up to 6 berth. Accommodation Profile (minimum requirements)are as follows: Each unit to be finished in timber or composite materials, each component material to have a minimum 10 year warranty. The supplier will be required to carry out all the relevant groundworks for the successful installation of the units onto site. The supplier will be required to make all appropriate connections to sewer, water and electric supplies where required. All work to be certified to current standards. The supplier is required to install composite decking to each unit. (approximate 15 m2 per unit). The supplier is required to provide each unit fully furnished, all interior furnishings and fittings are required to meet current standards for safety and fire retardants. Each unit will be required to have a mains connected toilet, shower and kitchen. Each unit is required to have a fully functioning kitchen with minimum microwave, oven, grill, basin, hotplates, fridge and storage, complete with laminate worktops. Units will be required to be fitted with solar panels to reduce the electricity usage for each unit. Each unit will be required to be constructed with high insulated values achieving a Grade 3 thermal rating. UPVC double glazed doors and windows with low thresholds to each unit. Units have to be designed for all year round usage. Units to be manufactured to the following standards BS EN 1645-1:2018. Supplier to be ISO 9001 approved or equivalent or have a documented internal quality management process/system in place. Pressure treated certified FSC timber throughout. Minimum building structural warranty of 10 years. Supplier to be able to meet a schedule of 15 weeks from placing of order to delivery and connection on site.
