The London Borough of Hillingdon is the western most borough in Greater London and is the second largest of London's 32 boroughs covering an area of 44 square miles (11,571 hectares) and is located 14 miles from central London, Heathrow Airport is within Hillingdon’s boundary and employs around 1 in 15 people in Hillingdon (12.2 % of the Heathrow workforce). The successful Contractor will be required to enter into a contract for the supply, delivery, erection, maintenance and repair of fencing and gating. The successful Contractor will be required to enter into a contract for the supply, delivery, erection, maintenance and repair of fencing and gating. The tender includes 2 specifications; green spaces/ad hoc works and Chrysalis Programme Gating Scheme. All Contractors are required to bid for both the requirement and the most cost effective supplier would be successful. For the Chrysalis Programme Gating Scheme the supplier will liaise directly with the resident of the Council. Quotes for the gating of privately owned alleyways under the Council's Chrysalis programme should be sent directly to the lead resident to include in their application process with a copy to the Council. Some fencing and gating requirements are planned whilst others are reactive and involve the repair or replacement of damaged panels, posts and gates often at very short notice to ensure the safety and security of residents, employees and the general public. The types of fencing and gating installed and the extent of the works required vary in each case and depend upon the location and the particular requirement. The Council is also responsible for installing and maintaining the condition of boundary fences and gates on its corporate properties and open spaces.
