Tender description

Nexus continues to have an ambition to enhance connectivity across its infrastructure in order to improve customer satisfaction, increase operational efficiency and support the region’s wider ambitions to provide world class Digital Connectivity. Nexus is looking to appoint an organisation to provide support as it looks to upgrade its existing assets in order to deliver those digital aspirations. The successful organisation will be expected to ensure provision of minimum 4G coverage to a specified minimum standard around the entire Tyne and Wear Metro network. Do you need an exact date or a month? 1st October is best guess of an actual date. Just “October” would be the better. “September / October” would be ideal. Revised text below. TA. Nexus has previously approached the market as described in Contract Notice 2017/S 118-237932 in an attempt to deliver its digital aspirations. Further to the soft market testing exercise detailed in PIN notice 2017/S 209-434723, Nexus has now revised its approach to delivering these aspirations and has made amendments to the scope, duration and contracting strategy of the procurement opportunity. A review of the most appropriate procurement methodology is currently underway. The successful organisation will be expected to ensure provision of minimum 4G coverage to a specified minimum standard around the entire Tyne and Wear Metro network. The scope of the agreement is now likely to include the use of the following assets: — space within existing ducting and troughing routes on the Tyne and Wear Metro network for the installation of fibre by a third party, — Nexus’ land, property and assets for the installation of mobile telecommunications equipment for by third parties, — the Dark Fibre, deemed surplus to operational requirements, — the Distributed Antennae System (“the Nexus DAS”), currently used by Mobile Network Operators (“MNOs”) for 2G mobile phone coverage in subsurface stations and below ground, — the novation of existing Nexus commercial telecoms contract portfolio.
