Construction work for university buildings

Tender description

The University requires additional accommodation to meet student number targets up to 2022/2023. The University has agreed heads of terms to enter into an agreement for Lease with Standard life assurance limited c/o Aberdeen standard investments (the "Developer") for the construction (in three phases) of up to 1366 en-suite student bedrooms and ground floor commercial space at St Marks, Lincoln (the "Development"). The Development lies very near to the southern edge of the University campus in close proximity to a number of teaching buildings, 2 key amenity buildings (the Library and Students Union) and offers student accommodation in a prime location which will be highly convenient for, and marketable to, the student population. Given the scale of the increase in the planned student population, there are no alternative sites that can offer the ability to meet this demand whilst maintaining one of the University's unique selling points of a compact city centre campus. The development works will be carried out by Standard Life Assurance Limited (c/o Aberdeen Standard Investments) (the "Developer") on land at St Marks, Lincoln. The land and existing buildings at the St. Marks site is owned by the Developer. On completion of the Development, the University will be granted a 21 year Lease to the Development.
