Tender description
The Works consist of repair to 3 no. bridges in Co Clare, namely Lackabranner Bridge (Annacarrig, Killaloe), Killaderry Bridge (Broadford) & Callaghans Bridge (Oatfield). The Works are set out in the Tender Documents Volume A & Volume C. Works will generally involve repair & replacement of masonry to abutments, arches, spandrel walls & parapets. There are also strengthening works (concrete saddle) & replacement of backfill material, localised works to the river bed (including in-stream scour mitigation measures) & road surface remedial works. Traffic management will be required at all bridges as each of the sites correspond with public roadways. Works at Callaghans Bridge will require a road closure. The works on the road above the arch must be completed in four weeks & before the end of August 2017 to facilitate school traffic. Works at Killaderry Bridge will require a Road Closure. There are no additional restrictions on the dates other than it must be completed in the contract period and in river works must be completed by the end of September 2017. Access to the farm gates adjacent to the bridge must remain available to the landowners from the relevant public road, but not through the site of the Bridge works. The Works at Lackabranner will involve removing the road surface & fill to expose the upper surface of the arch. This will require a traffic management system to ensure a minimum of a single lane for traffic is available at all times during the Contract. The existing grass margin shall be prepared by the Contractor & used for traffic management. Except during the approved Road Closures periods, a minimum of a single lane for traffic must be maintained at all times during the Contract. This contract was awarded to Cumnor Construction Ltd, Stoneview, Blarney, Co. Cork.
