Tender description

The purpose of this service is to provide safe and effective secure transport and escorting for individuals, with mental health needs, under various sections of the Mental Health Act 1983. The provider’s service must include: — pick up and conveyance of individuals with mental health needs to specified locations. — providing an escort to the individual and waiting whilst the individual is at their appointment. — returning the individual to their original location. The service will be provided to the adult and adolescent service users over the age of 12. The service is required 24 hours a day 365/366 days a year (including leap year). The service also covers ward assistance; provision of a Crew to specified locations to support Trust staff. The conveyance will be required to/ from Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust specialised services Inpatient mental health units to a wide range of locations within Hampshire and when required, any UK location. These locations include, but are not limited to, prisons, courts, acute hospitals, other mental health provider locations, as well as a range of community settings. In addition secure transport may also be required to any UK location for repatriation of those service users covered in this service specification. The Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust inpatient mental health services in scope are: — Leigh House — Winchester, SO21 1HD. — Ravenswood House — Wickham, PO17 5NA. — Bluebird — Tatchbury Mount, Calmore, SO40 2RZ. — Southfield — Tatchbury Mount, Calmore, SO40 2RZ. — Woodhaven — Tatchbury Mount, Calmore, SO40 2TA. The acute hospital locations in Hampshire are: — Queen Alexandra Hospital — Cosham. — Southampton General Hospital — Southampton. — Royal Hampshire County Hospital — Winchester. — Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital — Basingstoke. Ward assistance is also required. There are times where the patient acuity and dependency levels are such that additional staffing support may be required for short periods of time on wards or in Community teams within Adult mental health. The purpose of this service is to provide additional staffing presence during the periods of escalated activity and acuity. This is a joint procurement based on a common specification. Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is acting as a lead authority for a number of NHS Trusts within Hampshire. These are Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust, Solent NHS Trust. The volumes and locations identified are those for Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, who will make use of the contract to meet its requirements. The other NHS Trusts identified may elect to make use of the resulting contract at some future date within the prime term.
