Tender description

Design and build of civils works to support a new 2.1 km long guided mass passenger transit system. The track, rolling stock and associated systems will be the subject of a separate systems contract to be awarded concurrently. The 2 successful contractors (civils and systems) will be required to work together and have the flexibility to evolve the design to deliver the overall scheme. Design and construction of the civils works to support a new 2.1 km long guided mass rapid passenger transit system to run from Stirling Place, close to Luton Airport Parkway station, to Luton Airport terminal. The works will include constructing viaducts, embankments, cut and cover works, station platforms and buildings and possibly some ancillary works e.g. car parking. Some of the works will be within the air-side sections of the airport. The capital works will be funded by LLAL on a lump sum FIDIC contract basis. The procurement will be carried out under a competitive dialogue procedure and delivering growth and investing in social values within the local area will form part of the award criteria and will be supported by special conditions relating to the performance of the contract.
