Tender description

The works will be carried out on the podium and public walkways on the Barbican Estate and comprises the removal of existing paving, underlying mortar beds, insulation and rainwater outlets. The kerbs and screed coverings of the existing planting beds and associated tiled features, such as pathways, seats and fountains will be removed. The exposed asphalt waterproofing layer will be examined and replaced. New insulation will be bedded over previously insulated areas. New rainwater outlets will be fitted. New waterproofing membrane will be laid over exposed areas and overlaid with a waterproof screed and new paving tiles. Kerbs to planting beds, tiled seats and other landscape features will be reconstructed in existing positions. The work will be undertaken within a rolling programme with phased handover of completed areas. A soft market testing exercise is being carried out that seeks input from the market to establish the most effective and attractive way of packaging and scoping works for the waterproofing of the barbican.
