Tender description

The project involves the design and construction of a new primary school in Bangor Gwynedd. The provisional value of the construction contract is 7 400 000 GBP. The project will involve the inclusion of the contractor as a member of the Design Team (Early Contractor Involvement). Gwynedd Council wishes to procure a high quality primary school, designed and built to create an ideal learning environment for delivering the curriculum in the 21st Century. The project will involve the inclusion of the contractor as a member of the Design Team (Early Contractor Involvement). The successful Contractor will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to working as part of a fully integrated team during the pre-construction phase and exceptional contract management during the construction phase, ensuring that a highly efficient delivery programme is achieved. The project involves the design and construction of a new primary school in Bangor Gwynedd. The provisional value of the construction contract is 7 400 000 GBP. The school will be designed to the standards of Building Bulletin 99 (Second Edition) Briefing Framework for Primary School Projects and to the standards of other relevant Building Bulletins (for example, Acoustics, Fire). The new school will accommodate 450 pupils, including nursery. In accordance with the conditions of funding by the Welsh Government the project will meet the following criteria: — achieve BREEAM Excellent rating at Design and Post-Construction stages; — include a fire protection sprinkler system compliant with Building Bulletin 100 (BB100); — the completed building must be compliant with the acoustic standards set out in Building Bulletin 93 (BB93); — include 15 % recycled material by value in the construction; — following practical completion a report will be provided to the client in accordance with Waste and Resource Action Programme. All Consultants will contribute as necessary. The project must maximise the community benefits delivered through the funding and the Construction contractor will lead the development and achievement of a Community Benefits programme.
