THG Tong Lane Culvert

Tender description

Together Housing Association (THA) is seeking tenders from competent contractors to undertake the design and repair of a section of Tong Lane culvert in Bacup. The Contractor will be required to hold registration with UVDB Achilles. Green Vale Homes (part of the Together Housing Association - THA) were contacted by the Environment Agency (EA) in December 2016. The EA stated that according to their inspection reports a section of culvert under the ownership of the THA was suffering from a number of defects including loose key stones, sagging soffits and a wall collapse. As the riparian landowner, the THA have certain responsibilities regarding maintenance and repair to the watercourse. This 60m section of culvert (from 170m to 230m downstream of the inlet of the culvert) which runs under the frontages of residential garages, is known as Tong Lane Culvert and is part of Greave Clough Brook. Along with the Perplas Culvert further NE, they run mainly beneath industrial units and some residential properties, roads and a demolition site.
