Tender description

The project provides a new purpose built workshop facility for the RSC's Costume Department, and incorporates the existing Grade II listed building ensemble as well as establishing a link with the RSC's administrative hub on Chapel Lane. The contract is for the construction of a new workshop facility for the Royal Shakespeare Company Costume Department, the selected tenderer will be responsible for all new build/ refurbishment works and all associated works. Principally the project involves: — Demolition of the later editions/less significant components of the existing Costume Workshop building ensemble, — Retention of the main historic components: notably the Scene Dock and the Stock Room/Stable building and residential outhouses, — Design and build of circa 1748 m2 of workshop and ancillary accommodation over three floors, — Design and build of new hard and soft landscaping features, — Remodelling of the existing Chapel Lane main entrance both externally and internally.
