Digital Connectivity on Tyne and Wear Metro

Nexus has an aspiration to enhance connectivity across its infrastructure in order to improve customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. A number of options are being considered in order to deliver this enhanced connectivity, and the scope of the project could include the provision of a Public Cellular Network and wi-fi network on the Tyne and Wear Metro, along with the right to exploit Nexus’ assets including, but not restricted to, Tyne and Wear Metro tunnels and cable ducts to lay new fibre. Interested parties are invited to log in via this portal and register their interest in participating in an informal market testing exercise to discuss the opportunity further. The deadline for expressions of interest is 25 November 2017 and informal discussions will be held throughout November and early December 2017. Respondents should have proven experience of running similar telecoms networks and should complete a PIN questionnaire to formally register their interest following the market testing exercise.
