Tender description

The University of Bath seeks to deliver a new School of Management on their main campus site at Claverton Down. The site sits adjacent to Convocation Avenue, the main entrance to the University and in close proximity to both Green Belt and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The site itself is a greenfield site, with some landscaped made ground from previous university projects. The purpose of this PIN is to give early notice of a requirement for a suitable contractor to deliver the enabling works package, which is being procured separately to the main works package. A design team has been appointed to RIBA Stage 3 and will be novated to the main contractor (not enabling works) from RIBA Stage 4 onwards. The main contractor (not enabling works) will undertake RIBA Stage 4 Technical Design, as part of the procurement package. The enabling works will comprise the following: — Detailed design of sub-structure/ basement from RIBA Stage 3, — Installation of hoarding, — Installation of access roads and main works compound, — Installation of retaining wall adjacent to Convocation Avenue, — Excavation to FFL, — Creation of 2 floor basement and associated tanking/ plant voids/ risers/ lift cores etc. to ground floor slab level. It is not proposed that the University Design Team will be novated to the enabling works contractor. The Enabling Works contractor will be responsible for the detailed design of all elements included within the enabling works package.
