Ground protection and reinforcement Works on Harrogate Stray for the Tour de Yorkshire in Harrogate in 2017

Tender description

On 29 April 2017 the Council is hosting a stage of the Tour De Yorkshire bike race which is due to end on the renowned Stray in Harrogate finishing on West Park. The Tour de Yorkshire has developed following the very successful Tour De France in England in 2014 and now is a regular fixture in and around Yorkshire. In hosting this event there is a requirement to accommodate a large number of vehicles, plant and equipment on the grass areas adjacent to the finish line. The area is located on the Harrogate Stray which is protected by an Act of Parliament and is also very dear to the people of Harrogate and much revered. As a result it is imperative that in hosting this event the area is protected and not spoiled and that suitable ground reinforcing is laid to all areas in advance of the event.
