Tender description

National Grid is entering into contractual arrangements with Ark for the design, build, operation and maintenance over a 25 year period of a new Data Centre facility. National Grid has existing contractual arrangements with Crown Hosting Data Centres Limited (a joint venture between the Minister for the Cabinet Office and Ark) and Ark. The proposed and existing facilities constitute Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), being critical to the transmission and distribution of electricity and gas in the UK. The subject matter of the proposed contracts is considered to fall within the range of subject matter to which Directive 2009/81/EC of the European Parliament and of The Council would apply, due to the sensitive works and sensitive services for security purposes, involving, requiring or containing classified information. In the alternative, the subject matter is within that to which Directive 2014/25/EU of the European Parliament and of The Council would apply for technical reasons, the contracts may be awarded only to Ark. Design, build, operate and maintain Data Centres.
