Tender description

The Hall For Cornwall (HFC) seeks to appoint a suitably accredited and demonstrably experienced Principal Contractor to undertake the major refurbishment of its Grade II* building in Truro under a single stage traditional form of procurement. The form of contract has yet to be determined but may be an amended JCT Standard Form 2011. The primary construction works shall increase the seating capacity of the auditorium to a minimum of 1 250 seats with further standing positions also provided. Restoration works will be required to the Boscawen Street foyer to provide a catering offer for both theatre audiences and as a destination in its own right. Works will also be required to provide a new creative providing office and flexible meeting space. The aspiration is to transform HFC into a number 1 presenting house with greater audience capacity and to restore its important heritage elements. HFC has secured the funding for the project from a number of sources including the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Arts Council England, Cornwall Council, HM Treasury Grant and the Heritage Lottery Fund. The form of procurement will be the restricted procedure with an initial pre-qualification period to select no more than 4 contractors to proceed to tender. HFC are looking to engage a contractor under a single stage traditional form of contract. It is likely that there will be a limited number of Contractor Designed Portions. The project is required by its funding to achieve BREEAM ‘Very Good’.
