Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District Offices The building is a protected structure under the Carrick on Suir Town Plan and is included in the Architectural Inventory Reg. No.: 22123017 - townland: Town Parks. Category of special interest: architectural artistic historical, social. Rating: regional. The building was designed by Mr Thomas Anthony and was constructed in 1841. It is a very important and valued building having been the centre of administration for over a century. The project is to refurbish and extend the building to provide up- to-date modern facilities for Municipal District Offices for Tipperary County Council. The existing building which was refurbished in the 1970’s still retains many of its original features including the impressive façade and internal plasterwork. The construction project will involve the refurbishment of the building top the highest conservation standards. This will involve the employment of specialist trades and the use of traditional building materials. The new works will include careful demolition of existing buildings in a restricted site. The structure will comprise in-situ and pre-cast concrete components. The finish to the building includes rainscreen stone cladding and fibre cement cladding. There is to be a planar glazed entrance façade. Internally the building is to be finished to a high standard including quality finishes to the council chamber and entrance foyer. The services installation will include air-conditioning and the latest I.T. facilities. Furniture/ fit-out will be to a high standard.
