Guildhall York - Refurbishment and Extension

Tender description

City of York Council is seeking to select (at SQ stage) a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 suitably qualified contractors who will be invited to tender (at ITT stage) for the delivery of the Guildhall project. The project procurement will follow a 2 stage tender process where contractors are asked to price xxx and provide a detailed project delivery programme at stage 1 and then to enter into the contract (NEC ECC Option C) to work through an intensive stage 2 - ECI process - working with the client and design team to finalise the detail and prices for individual work packages, and to agree the construction and delivery methods on this complex project. Contractor Design is a key requirement on a range of work packages, but given the sensitive nature of the project, with works within a significant conservation area and to highly graded listed buildings the specification for other work packages will necessarily be more prescribed in accordance with the detailed design and specification requirements provided by the design team. The project has a fixed and not to be exceeded works budget of £10.35m where this is the target cost £9m and with a tolerance of +/- 15% The works involve a comprehensive refurbishment and redevelopment of the Guildhall complex on the York Riverside. The site is highly constrained city centre site on the north bank of the River Ouse – site access is restricted and it is anticipated that it will be necessary to use the river to deliver plant and materials to the site.
