Tender description

The Welsh Government Food Division aims to appoint a contractor to deliver technical support to Welsh food and drinks producers who have either achieved a protected status of who are pursuing a protected status. This contract will support all late stage EUPFN applicants through to acceding to EUPFN status or to the end of the contract period (which ever concludes first) as well as progressing a minimum of 8 other EUPFN applications to completion or to the end of the contract period (which ever concludes first). This contract will support all late stage EUPFN applicants through to acceding to EUPFN status or to the end of the contract period (which ever concludes first) as well as progressing a minimum of 8 other EUPFN applications to completion or to the end of the contract period (which ever concludes first). The successful contractor will coordinate and execute promotional activities to raise awareness of the scheme to consumers and gain recognition for these iconic food products. We expect the successful contractor to consult with the protect food name producers/ groups to gauge their perspective on the future of the scheme and feedback to the Welsh Government. The contractor will be expected to evaluate the risks and opportunities to producers of PFN products following the UK's exit from the EU. A SWOT analysis will be required to summarise the evaluation. Alternative options to PFN should be considered including trade / certification marks and recommendations made on the most appropriate approach in different target markets. The contractor will be expected to keep fully informed of Defra's plans and developments in this regard.
