Tender description

Mayfair Library - the existing building is situated in the heart of Mayfair central London, off South Audley Street and to the south of Grosvenor Square in the West End. The building is surrounded by exclusive shops, residential tenements, government buildings etc. and is opposite Grosvenor Church which shares the same cul-de-sac, off South Audley Street. The primary elevation is south facing and there is vehicular access via the cul-de-sac in front of the building where the main public entrance is located. There is also a fire escape to the rear with access via a walled courtyard, the adjoining tenement block and Mount Street gardens to the east. It should be noted that the ground in Mount Street gardens is raised with an inclined bank which directly abuts the library not allowing level access, posing difficulties with the erection of scaffold.
