RMBC wish to make general enquiries to establish if there are providers who could deliver a Food Supply Service to local organisations and food banks working with people in crisis in Rotherham ( Community Food Members) from April 2017 to March 2018. The anticipated funding available for 2017-2018 for the supply of food to community food members is £30,000 The main objective of the provision is: To provide a regular / sustainable supply and diverse selection of ambient food to CFMs in Rotherham The main functions of the service are: 1. To provide a cost effective provision by using surplus ambient food from major suppliers / supermarkets 2. Maintain a sustainable supply of surplus food through a formal agreement with major supermarket/s 3. Sort the food supplies into food parcels with a varied selection of food types in each parcel. 4. Operate a local storage and distribution centre with adequate storage and delivery capacity to meet the needs of the Community Food Members 5. Store and facilitate the re-distribution of the food supply to Community Food Members in Rotherham. 6.
