Tender description

The University of Leeds is undertaking a procurement exercise to appoint a Principal Contractor to deliver a circa 9 500-10 000 meters squared major new build construction project on the south east corner of the main campus off Woodhouse Lane in Leeds, West Yorkshire. It is intended to award a single Works Contract to a single main contractor in late 2016 for the build of the University Innovation and Enterprise Centre (UIEC). The UIEC is a vital part of the University campus development master plan, forming a new gateway for business to engage with the University in developing new research programmes and innovation. The core elements underpinning the UIEC proposition are based around people and space. — rentable space — high quality competitively priced and professionally serviced office and/or lab space, — collaboration space — brand new purpose designed innovation facility containing extensive communal and bookable space in which to chat over coffee or lunch, (hot desk for collaboration space users), network, share information, generate ideas, meet privately and hold seminars. Relationship management — easy access to a huge range of experts, equipment and other support including finance/funding facilitated by an experienced innovation development team. Community — a vibrant and inspiring innovation community. The proposals for this new build dedicated and purpose designed UIEC include concept designs for incubation laboratories and offices, university innovation staff space, collaboration space, lecture theatre and cafe together with landscape proposals for the adjacent space.
