16-032 Transport of Children, Young people & Vulnerable Adults

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) are inviting bids from a number of organisations who might be able to provide Services that meet RMBC’s current needs for the Transport for Children, Young People & Vulnerable adults. This contract provides transport for those children, young people and adults identified as needing transport from their homes, or designated pick up points, mainly to educational establishments; respite centres; residential homes, day care centres and learning disability day centres, that provide the specialised education, care and support they require. The transport service must be suitable for children (including babies) 0 to 19 years of age and senior citizens and adults with mild to severe and complex learning difficulties. This includes a range of sensory, medical, mobility and physical conditions and challenging behaviours. Some children and adults need to use wheelchairs (manual, electric and large electric) and therefore vehicles with accessibility to suit are required with wheelchair restraints and fixings agreed by RMBC. Children requiring special child seats, booster cushions or any other equipment are identified by CTU. Passenger assistants will be required on specific journeys identified by CTU, C&YPS and Adult Services. Drivers and passenger assistants will be required to undertake mandatory training identified by CTU, C&YPS and Adult Services. Keywords: Adult, Children, Vulnerable, Transport, Taxi
