Tender description
Construction of a new Welcome Centre between the grade 1 listed Cathedral church and Chapter House on an archaeologically sensitive site. Also internal structural alterations to the Chapter House including lift installation, raising and extending floors plus new services throughout. Main works contractor with experience of working on heritage sensitive and occupied sites is required to undertake the construction of a new Welcome Centre. Close liaison with relevant authorities is required to ensure installation satisfies all statutory conditions. Alterations to the grade 1 list Chapter House to create a new leanring hub for the excellent and award winning Learning Department. Revision to levels through the works to ensure a design which meets modern expectations for access including raising floors to create level access, installation of lift, new toilets, etc.
