Tender description

The proposed works from part of an overall site redevelopment of the former Burnholme Community College which closed in 2014. Whilst most of the site is now vacant, existing tenant groups have been temporarily accommodated at the southern end of the site and the sports facility will remain in operation throughout the site redevelopment. The works are to be procured under a Design and Build Contract with the successful supplier responsible for developing the detail design, construction information, compliance with current legislation and undertaking the construction works. These works are to include :- • Demolition of the remaining buildings to the rear of the main hall (shown as phase 2 on the demolition phasing drawing) • Alterations, improvements and refurbishment of the retained main hall, entrance foyer and stage areas • Construction of new two storey extension adjacent to existing hall to accommodate library/cafe area, kitchen/servery, learning kitchen, music rooms, meeting rooms and community rooms • Design and installation of new heating, ventilation and electrical systems including data, fire detection, intruder alarms etc. • External works including extending existing car park, construction of new car park, resurfacing works, new access ramp/steps, cycle shelters, outdoor play areas and associated paving/landscaping.
