Tender description

The Council requires to re-tender its contract for the supply and delivery of fresh/organic food stuffs to East Ayrshire, in particular schools. The school meals service is regarded as the first ‘Sustainable’ school food service in the United Kingdom achieving the Food for Life Gold Standard, where children enjoy healthy meals made from ingredients that are fresh, local and organic. The School Meals service has linked the Schools (Health Promotion and Nutrition) Act 2007 with the Council's Community Plan, to national policy through Scotland's Sustainable Development strategy and Scottish Government guidance to introduce a Whole School Approach for school meals. The contract will be split into 8 Lots. The contract will also be open for North and South Ayrshire Councils to use. Supply and delivery of fresh red meat. Fresh poultry. Supply and delivery of fresh fish. Supply and delivery of fresh fruit and vegetables. Supply and delivery of fresh cows milk/milk products. Supply and delivery of fresh hens eggs. Supply and delivery of dry, bottled and tinned food stuffs. Supply and delivery of cheese.
