Tender description

Following the decision to roll out Asset Led Delivery Contracts in Areas 1, 2, 13 and 14, Highways England will be hosting industry day events. The purpose is to inform the industry supply chains of the key changes to our contracts and to provide suppliers with further information regarding the following contracts: — Maintenance and Response Contract — Routine highway maintenance work; defect repairs; emergency incident response; delivering a severe weather service; and other similar duties. — Capital Delivery (works) Contracts — Civil engineering works including earthworks; fencing, landscaping; road restraints; drainage and ducts; pavements, kerbs, footways, paved areas; traffic signs and markings; road lighting and electrical work for lighting; structures — piling and retention walls and structural concrete; waterproofing; painting; and any other similar duties. — Design Contract — Preparing technical designs and undertaking supporting work for capital projects from an initial brief stage to as-built details including project enabling tasks and other similar duties. — Specialist Support Services Contracts — May include but not limited to, technical surveys, laboratory testing; road safety audits, principle inspections meteorological forecasting. Additionally for Areas 1 and 2, we intend to merge the 2 areas into a single South West area for the purposes of overall management, Design Framework and the Construction Works framework. In respect of the Maintenance and Response (M & R) contract we wish to gather supplier views on whether a single M & R contract should be procured for the South West region as a whole or whether we should continue to divide delivery within region into 2 areas. Attendance and participation will provide an opportunity for the supply chain to assist Highways England in reaching a decision. The objective is to determine whether the industry in the region is better placed to support a single merged M & R contract or separate M & R contracts. 2 industry events will be held in February 2016. For Areas 1 and 2 the venue is likely to be as central as possible within the region. For Areas 13 and 14, the venue is likely to be at a location as central as possible for both areas. If you wish to attend, please register your interest by responding to the email address shown at I.1) stating which event (s) you are interested in and providing full contact details of no more than 2 delegates per organisation. Please respond by no later than 5.2.2016. Once we have an indication of attendance numbers, we can identify suitable venues and provide a programme for the events.
