GB-Bath: Manvers Street Levels 1-2 Refurbishment

Expressions of Interest are sought for the refurbishment of the basement (Level 1) and ground floor (Level 2) of 18 Manvers Street, Bath. This building was previously the Police Station and was purchased by the University in 2015. This will house a new city centre student learning zone in the basement and a mixture of student facing areas and staff offices on the ground floor. The works required include extending the usable area of the basement (no extension to the existing floor area), fully waterproofing and insulating part of the basement, building a new attached external passenger lift to serve all floors of the building, general fit out works to form new study zones, coffee bar and break out areas as well as office space. M&E works are to include new air handling systems, data and small power installations and a rationalisation of water distribution throughout the building. Externally new railings will be fitted to the perimeter of the front forecourt and a new refuse and café store constructed off the internal courtyard. The scheme will be subject to financial and planning approval. The anticipated value is in the order of £2,500,000 – 3,000,000. However, the University is anticipating carrying out a package of enabling works to include some of the key structural alterations. The programme is expected to be; Start on site mid April, 2016 (subject to planning) with completion for occupation no later than end October, 2016.
