Tender description

The Advanced Wellbeing and Research Centre is a new build, 4 000 square metre development for Sheffield Hallam University. The facility will provide state of the art facilities for research into movement, health and well-being. The accommodation will provide a large sports hall area, MRI and CT scanning facilities, office and clinical room space, a conference suite and gym. The project is based on developing the Olympic Legacy Park to the East of Sheffield City Centre and will contribute to the regeneration of the area. The tallest part of the building is 6 storey's high and the construction of the frame is a mix of steel and glulam. It is proposed that the foundations are piled. The proposed procurement route is a two stage design and build using the OJEU open procedure in order to identify a suitable partner capable of delivering a high quality building, to complete the design and construction of this new build development. The design information will be developed to RIBA Stage 3 upon issue of the Invitation to tender in early August 2016 (TBC). The Architect will be novated to the successful Principal Contractor upon appointment. The Structural Engineer will be appointed by the Principal Contractor using a prior works clause in the appointment. The Mechanical & Electrical Design Service's Engineer will be retained by the Client. The construction contract will be the JCT Design and Build 2011 with client amendments. The successful bidder will be required to enter into a Pre-Construction Services Agreement to develop the design to completion of RIBA Stage 4.
