As the regional business development agency, Invest NI's role is to grow the local economy. We do this by supporting new and existing businesses to compete internationally and by attracting new investment to Northern Ireland. Invest NI offers the Northern Ireland business community a single organisation providing high-quality services, programmes, support and expert advice. We principally support those businesses that can make the greatest contribution to growing our economy. These are businesses that have ability to grow and drive productivity in the economy and are keen to export their goods and services outside Northern Ireland. In line with the growing global trend to use design as a key enabler and driver of innovation, Invest NI currently offers its customer base in the NI business community a single point of contact to high-quality design services and expert design advice through its provision of Design for Business Support. This seeks to provide companies with the opportunity to access design support and assist businesses to become more competitive. Invest Nl now wish to appoint a Contractor to deliver the 4 elements of its new Design for Business Support provision. This aim of this support will be to assist NI businesses realise the benefits of design and move up the design ladder (see Figure 1). The Contractor shall mentor, advise and facilitate workshops on the design needs of businesses in all of the design disciplines below:- — Product/Industrial Design — Visual Communication; — Design Management/Strategic Design; — Interior and Furniture Design; — Service Design; — Fashion and Textiles; and — Digital and New Media/ Interaction Design. This list of disciplines may be amended throughout the life of the contract depending on the needs of the customer businesses and objectives of the Design for Business Support Service.
