News Room Centre/Studio

Tender description

The University of Huddersfield - Journalism and Media dept. has been allocated a space to build a brand new Newsroom Centre for the Broadcast Journalism degree in-order to full-fill the requirements for BJTC accreditation, creating a fully functional newsgathering environment. The attached sketch shows the News Centre to accommodate 32 Avid machines currently running Media Composer software, a meeting area and a TV studio space with a trussing lighting rig. We would like your submission to accommodate our suggested facilities outlined below accompanied with systematic drawings and explanatory details of workflows and any other associated equipment accessories as options to fulfil the requirements of a Newsroom Centre. TV studio space / Presenter Area • The TV studio space will ideally have two remote PTZ cameras with auto-prompting screens for the presenters. • We would like to integrate wired or wireless microphones and wireless talkback for the two presenters. • New studio clocks for the newsroom which could be combined with programme output. Gallery The small room shown next door would be the gallery room. This should contain: • Bespoke gallery furniture to accommodate the facilities below with rack mounting features as appropriate • A Tricaster with input feeds from Presenter Cameras and includes a feature for virtual studio • We will need video and audio signals from the relevant sources - VT playback, Prompt input and also an input from our existing equipment - NewTek Talk show / Skype Box http://www.newtek.com/products/talkshow.html (note the Talk show needs video programme out and Mix- minus audio) • The vision mixer output should provide a multi view signal to a monitor and programme output signal out to the VT recorder, including feeds to the Screens around the newsroom centre. • We would need a control surface for the vision mixer http://www.newtek.com/products/control-surfaces.html . • We would need an Audio Mixer with inputs for up to 2 microphones, VT audio and Talk show. This can be done in the Tricaster or on a separate device, studio graphics would be dealt with in the same manner. We would recommend that the Installation date to start on the week beginning 8th Aug 2016.
