Tender description

The Extra Care housing programme seeks to achieve greater independence and well-being for people with support needs, by giving them more choice over housing and care options. It provides an alternative to residential services which can allow the Borough to reinvest valuable resources into other services. Extra Care housing is not intended as a substitute for sheltered housing or flexible community support services. It seeks to complement other types of provision for people with support needs, particularly for those who are unable to continue living in their own homes but wish to live in an independent setting with 24 hour care and support services on site. The dependency mix of residents will vary for each scheme. The intention is to significantly increase Extra Care provision in Wirral. To do this we wish to broaden the number of delivery partners and models for Extra Care in an effort to identify new opportunities and accelerate Wirral's new-build programme as well as exploring options for the re-use of existing accommodation that could be re-modelled for extra care use.
