Tender description

Network Rail Infrastructure Limited is using an alliance contracting arrangement to procure the programme of works relating to power supply upgrades and electrification to the UK railway infrastructure network. The works comprised 2 stage of power supply upgrade along the East Coast Mainline, stage 1 Wood Green to Bawtry and stage 2 Bawtry to Edinburgh and also the electrification of the Transpennine Route (Stalybridge to Colton junction, Hambleton junctions and Selby and branches to Middlesbrough, Scarborough, Hull and Cleethorpes). The contract was awarded on 1.10.2014 to an alliance comprising VolkerFitzpatrick Rail Limited, Siemens PLC and J Murphy & Sons Limited and the estimated total value of the alliance contract awarded is between 500 000 000 GBP and 800 000 000 GBP. This contract relates to the delivery of a multi-disciplinary programme of works, comprising Overhead Line Electrification, Distribution, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, Civils and Signalling and Telecoms. The Power Supply Upgrade comprises 2 stages along the East Coast Main Line, Stage 1 — Wood Green to Bawtry and Stage 2 — Bawtry to Edinburgh and also the Electrification of the Transpennine Route (Stalybridge to Colton Junction, Hambleton Junctions and Selby and branches to Middlesborough Scarborough Hull and Cleethorpes). The overall scope will include the 12kA mitigation, system compatibility, renewals work associated with the power upgrade to the overhead line.
