Construction work for university buildings

Tender description

This project is for a new build student accommodation scheme including circa 1 279 bedroom units (6 blocks). Existing accommodation and the boiler house will be demolished and works undertaken to make the area good for future use. A turnkey approach is required for this project and main contractor will provide pre-constructed modular units or a traditional construction solution which will be fully fitted with furniture fixtures and equipment which the main contractor will source as part of the contract prior to site location and construction in block formation. The project will be delivered to BIM Level 2 and a soft landings process will need to be incorporated. This contract is awarded on a 2 Stage Design and Build basis typical for this type of construction contract. Stage 1 will be a pre-construction contract agreement governed by the Newcastle University Terms and Conditions of Purchase for Services 2010. Stage 2 will be for the remaining design Construction Works which will be governed by a version of NEC3. The contract may be terminated at the end of stage 1 at the discretion of the University Should the contractors' 2nd stage submission not meet the objectives of the University as described in the Invitation to Tender Documents.
