Tender description

NOTE: This notice was updated on 19 November 2015 for the following reason: We have now been made aware by the Derbyshire Fire Service that one lift at Rivermead House will need to be a Fireman's Lift. This lift must conform to EN81-1 or 2. and in general must provide but is not limited to the following features: •Door must be minimum of 800mm wide •Must reach furthest floor from FSAL in 60 seconds. •Must have Built in Water protection from fire fighting run-off. •Must have self-rescue facilities (an escape hatch and ladder) •Must have a communication system between the lift car and the FSAL •Have fail safe (dual/backup) power supplies, installed in protected cable •When its activated (put into fire fighting mode either by the Fire alarm system or operation by Fire service personnel) the lift Control system will: Isolates all landing calls and cancels car calls. Lift car returns to FSAL and parks with doors open Shaft and machine room lighting is switched on It will now only function as: •Single call operation •Doors remain closed on arrival •Constant pressure control of doors •Communication device operative between Lift Car, machine room and FSAL For the full requirements please consult EN81-1 and EN81-2. Please ensure that the price you submit includes all costs for providing one number Fireman’s lift to EN81-1 and EN81-2 at the Rivermead House site. To allow you sufficient time to complete your tender we have amended the tender return date and time to 1.00 p.m. Thursday 10 December 2015.Derby City Council are looking to replace four communal passenger lifts within our communal blocks of flats. This is due to the age of the existing lifts and a number of maintenance issues. The passenger lifts that are to be replaced are listed below: Whitecross House – A sheltered housing complex built in 1976, comprising of 26 flats on two floors. The existing lift is a Hammon & Champness Hydraulic Lift that was installed in 1991. The safe working load is set at 630kg (8 persons) Eaton Court – A sheltered housing complex built in 1991, comprising of 22 flats on four floors. The properties are either owned by The Client, leaseholders or are shared ownership. The existing lift is a Furse Hydraulic Lift (Serial No: 4994) and was installed in 1991. The safe working load is set at 630kg (8 persons) Rivermead House – An 11 floor, multi-storey block of flats built around 1965, comprising 93 flats and 1 concierge office. The properties are either owned by the Client or have been purchased by leaseholders. The building has 2 lifts which service alternate floors. Both are Hammond & Champness Windcrest Traction Lift. The safe working load is set at 545kg (8 persons).
