Development of recreational trails, car parking and ancillary works

Tender description

The Border Uplands Project is a cross-border, geo-tourism development project, which is creating and improving outdoor access, recreational and amenity infrastructure in the scenic uplands of Cavan, Fermanagh, Leitrim and Sligo. The Border Uplands Project is funded under the European Union’s INTERREG IVA programme and managed by the Special European Union’s Programme Body (SEUPB). The project is being delivered through close co-operation between 5 cross-border project partners: the Irish Central Border Area Network (ICBAN), Fermanagh District Council, Cavan County Council, Leitrim County Council and Sligo County Council. This project involves development of a series of recreational walking upland trails at three separate locations namely, Gortarowey (Dartry Mountain Range / Ben Bulben), Knocknarea and Union Wood. All three locations are situated primarily within Coillte controlled land with support access and facilities located on adjacent public / private lands.
