Design & Build- 3 Outdoor Gyms for the London Borough of Hillingdon

Tender description

The London Borough of Hillingdon intends to construct three outdoor gyms in various park locations within the Borough. Each site is described later in this Specification. Primarily the sites are as follows; LOT 1 - CHESTNUT AVENUE OPEN SPACE, YIEWSLEY.UB7 8BT LOT 2 - HILL LANE PARK, Hill Lane (Sharps Lane access), Ruislip HA4 7JW LOT 3 - BROOKSIDE ROAD OPEN SPACE, Brookside Road, Hayes UB4 0PL The London Borough of Hillingdon retains the right to award some, all or none of the works described within the three Lots. This tender will be a Design and Build Tender to the budgets for each site, as later described. 2.1 All gym equipment must be of predominantly metal construction and be sturdy enough for unsupervised use in an open park setting for people of a wide demographic background. The equipment will sit on a large tarmac pad constructed by the Principal Contractor. 2.2 The total Gym area shall comply with all current European Standards and all equipment, its installation and any safety surfacing shall comply with the relevant parts of BS EN 16630:2015 and sound engineering standards. 2.3The Contractor shall arrange and pay for a ROSPA inspection and report to be handed to LBH at the end of the construction. 2.4 As this is a community led project, Ward Councillors and residents will be invited to have an input in order to decide the design that will be successful. 2.5 The Contractor shall produce a 3D drawing and description of each site, sufficient that the Council can fully understand the Contractor’s intended design and costing of the works. 2.6 It is not expected that the works will involve a CDM, although method statements and risk assessments will be required from the Principal Contractor prior to a start on site. 2.7 The Gyms are to be tendered together but will be evaluated and awarded separately as Lots 1, 2 and 3. 2.8 It is expected that each scheme shall be completed on site within a three week period, however,all works must be substantially completed by the 18th December 2015.
