NOTE: This opportunity is being retendered as the initial tender attempt was cancelled. The London Borough of Camden has secured Planning Consent for the Camden Street Regeneration project. This development is a ‘Council-led’ project which means that the Council is developing its own land, community and housing provision. The development is part of the Council’s 15 year Community Investment Programme, Camden’s answer to the challenge of government funding cuts. The Plender Street site is under construction and will provide housing and commercial space. In addition, it will provide the new premises of the St. Pancras Community Association. Once complete (August 2015), this will allow them to decant from the Camden Street site. The Camden Street site is a priority for redevelopment, with the aim of creating a mixed use residential, business and community hub for Camden Town. There a number of objectives that needs to be achieved: • Deliver a high quality scheme achieving high sustainability standards (minimum Code for Sustainable Homes level 4 and BREEAM Excellent ratings) • Deliver ‘fit for purpose’ community, residential and business facilities • Reduce revenue and capital costs through the efficient use of land and buildings • Increase revenue and capital value • Deliver residential properties • Deliver improved public realm • Deliver a scheme that is fully connected to the local environment and that through integration into the local setting and careful design promotes sustainable communities and social cohesion.
