University of Limerick Sport Arena Extension

Tender description

The development will comprise the construction of a circa 4,500m2 extension to the UL Sports Arena on the University of Limerick Campus. The development includes a single storey buidling to provide a 25M X 10M swimming pool and a separate three store extension to provide an elite dry sports training facility. The swimming pool includes a 25M x 10M training pool complete with diving facility to 4m depth at one end, additional squad changing rooms and associated shower areas complete with ancillary pool plant room at basement level and extension of existing plant room at roof level. The dry sports training facility includes changing rooms, a gymnasium, treatment, recreation and meeting rooms, offices and roof level plant enclosures. Some minor reconfiguration of the existing UL Arena Building is required. The works also include associated landscaping and ancillary site development works. The dry sports training facility is being delivered using a Building Information Modelling process (BIM) to Level 2 maturity. The swimming pool is being delivered using a Building Information Modelling process (BIM) to Level 1 maturity with the intention of developing this to Level 2 maturity during the construction stage.
