Tender description
There are two sites for which site investigation works are required. Site 1 lies to the west of Pier 1 while Site 2 lies to the north of the existing small craft harbour. Both sites are located within Rossaveel Fishery harbour Centre, Co. Galway. The detailed ground investigations are necessary to determine subsurface conditions in the footprint of the proposed slipway/boatyard (Site 1) and the proposed Small Craft harbour (Site 2). The object of the detailed ground investigation work is to establish the following: (a) The nature, strength and compressibility of the geological strata in which it is proposed to construct the proposed works. Sediment sampling and analysis will be required. (b) Sufficient site data on which predictions of the rate and amount of future settlement can be made. (c) The presence of any irregularities in the geological structure, which may affect the proposed construction work. (d) The suitability of encountered material for re-use as fill material and/or rock armour. (e) Information on the groundwater regime relative to construction and environmental considerations. (f) Determine the rock quality and profile to assess the method of excavation and removal of rock. (g) Determine the rock quality and profile to assess the suitability for steel tubular piling.
