Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (GHFT) is embarking on a major transformation of its pathology services as part of a wider programme to modernise diagnostics, strengthen service resilience, and prepare for future demand. The Trust has recently agreed a new preferred way forward for the service which centres on the development of an integrated pan‑pathology service model supported by a new purpose‑built pathology hub, modern automation, digital platforms, standardised workflows, via a Managed Equipment Service (MES). As we progress the development of our future service model and commercial strategy, we are seeking valuable insight and expertise from suppliers with the capability to support not only our pathology disciplines, but potentially also support the estates component of this programme, including the planning, design, delivery and enablement of a new purpose‑built pathology hub (scope, location, and configuration to be determined), associated enabling works, and the transitional infrastructure required to ensure safe and resilient service continuity throughout the redevelopment period. As part of this early market engagement exercise, GHFT invites interested suppliers to feedback on our new preferred way forward, respond to a targeted and limited questionnaire, and participate in a subsequent in-person engagement session to outline how your organisation would support the Trust in delivering its future pan pathology MES including the development of the new purpose-built pathology hub. Please note, this engagement forms part of GHFT’s early pre‑market engagement activity and is intended solely to gather supplier insight and market feedback. It is not a procurement exercise and must not be interpreted as the start of a competitive process. Nothing in this document, nor any discussions or presentations associated with it, should be viewed as an invitation to tender, a request for proposal, or a commitment by the Trust to enter into any future procurement. This exercise is a limited and specific preliminary market engagement exercise focused on validating the Trust’s newly agreed preferred way forward.
