1. Introduction Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) operates its own infrastructure support trains transporting long welded rails from the depot to the work site across the IÉ network. The existing continuous welded rail (CWR) wagons are approaching end of life and needs to be replaced. IÉ wishes to procure a new “type approved” CWR Transportation and Delivery System compatible with its Infrastructure (IM) wagons.
